The girls played away to Kings Ely A and B teams Saturday morning.
The first match against Kings B was a strong start, defensively solid, intercepting and turning over the ball consistently. Utilizing the full width of the court created space allowing for fluid passing down court to our shooters. Strong passes into the circle allowed the shooters to hold good positioning within the D and setting up for accurate shots. The team communicated well making good choices of pass and resulted in a very convincing win.
Kings A team were a very strong side and increased the level of intensity of the match. The girls rose to the challenge and adapted their game play by trying different options on centre passes and working defensively to minimise the oppositions shooting opportunities. The team excelled in this area often marking players out of play. Mid court worked extremely hard looking for options to safely get the ball down the court, with the shooters using every opportunity to get a shot on goal. With the girls tiring due to the fast paced game and strength of the challenging side, there were a few ball handling errors and passes were intercepted, but the positive attitude right to the end of the match was unquestionable and learning points from the experience will no doubt improve play in future games.
Well done to all the girls. Mrs Phillips
