The U9's campaign got off to a terrific start against St. Hugh's. Jacob Philpot scored an early try, followed quickly by a strong run from Kai Peggs resulting in a second try within two minutes.

St. Hugh's replied but WGS then scored 2 quick tries by Michael Scott and Oliver Beck. St. Hugh's made it 4-2 before Henry Peukert scored an excellent try in the corner to make the score 5-2 at half time. Six more tries were scored in the second half by Henry Peukert, Kai Peggy (3), Oliver Beck and Jacob Philpot. St. Hugh's also scored 3 good tries to make the score 12-6 to WGS at the final whistle.

The WGS U9's played the game at pace with every player making good tackles. Jacques Porter and Sohan Ugni worked tirelessly in the center of the park. The boys demonstrated some good handling skills and well timed offloads.

This was an exciting performance which bodes well for the future. Well done boys. Thank you to the many supporters and to St. Hugh's who played the match in good spirit.
