Wisbech Grammar School Girls U11 Cricket

Saturday 13th May
15 girls in prep 5 and 6 played in the WGS festival on Saturday against Stephens Perse and Stamford. Against Stamford, Wisbech Grammar School’s A team scored 212 runs. In the field they took 12 wickets with superb fielding from Olexandra in particular. During the game Martha and Dillany, for the first time, bowled their opposition out. The score finished WGS 212 - Stamford 153 with the player of the match being awarded to Olexandra. Our A team then played against Stephen Perse’s A team, WGS faced some fantastic bowling and the team did exceptionally well to only loose one wicket. Dilany in particular did well to protect her wickets against a very fast bowler. When fielding, WGS only gave away 4 extras. The final score was WGS 209, Perse 239. Dillany and Maggie were praised for their bowling action by the opposition and Amelia was awarded player of the match her fantastic dot ball over and positive Captaincy. Against Perse’s B team, our A team won by 1 run, 231-230 with Emma taking a wicket, bowling out one of the opposition to win the game. Playing in their first ever Cricket match, our B team played against our A team, Perse A’s and B’s and Stamford. The girls managed to beat Stamford 246 to 235. During the day, Annabel, Charlotte and Lilian managed to score 4’s and Charlotte, Imogen and Lilian took wickets.
